Key workers across the country have been on the front-line, keeping communities safe and working hard to keep our country ticking. Whether it be supermarket workers, couriers or even the doctors and nurses risking their lives daily, their heroism will not go unnoticed. That is why we at Coffee Blue Bristol felt obliged to give back to our community’s servants. Since last week, we have been supplying officers in the Avon and Somerset police force with daily complimentary coffees as a token of our gratitude. Coffee Blue Bristol owner, Gareth Rosser, said: “Despite being unable to launch as planned at the end of March, Coffee Blue Bristol didn’t want to simply sit around and wait for restrictions to be lifted. Instead, we decided to support our local police constabulary with a complimentary daily supply of fresh coffee. “A family member of mine works for Avon and Somerset Police force. We arranged for the order and collection of a number of lattes and flat whites to keep them going during these unprecedented times. “Coffee Blue Bristol would like to express our gratitude to all of those working on the frontline, keeping everyone safe and well during these times.” Coffee Blue vans across the country have been on the roads, providing support to key workers. For example, Coffee Blue Caerphilly in South Wales has provided free coffee to NHS staff and community hubs throughout the region. Meanwhile, Coffee Blue Aberdare - also in South Wales - has been providing coffees to supermarket staff while they work hard to provide customers with their everyday essentials. Times are tough, there’s no denying it. The current pandemic has changed our working and social lives significantly. Throughout the lockdowns, social distancing and self-isolations, Coffee Blue has remained determined to support the key workers who help keep our country ticking. A few weeks ago, we announced a new delivery scheme to bring our services directly to people’s homes. Since then, a number of franchisees haven taken it upon themselves to go above and beyond for their communities. Here are just a few examples of how Coffee Blue is helping our country’s key workers: Free coffees for NHS staff Near the start of the UK’s lockdown, Coffee Blue bosses thought it would be a good idea to give back to the hard-at-work NHS staff on the front line. We announced on social media we are providing a complimentary hot drink to all NHS workers with a Coffee Blue van nearby. All they have to do is contact us directly and we’ll send out their nearest mobile barista with a complimentary. Already we’ve had pharmacists, nurses, doctors and more redeem their free coffees. Key workers still getting their daily dose of Blue Franchisees who visit key workers on their daily rounds have continued to fuel their days where possible. NHS workers, police officers and education workers are just some of those on the front lines and still receiving their daily visit from Coffee Blue. All visits are conducted with health and safety at the forefront. Our baristas are taking all necessary precautions such as using the appropriate equipment and minimising contact. This ensures our franchisees are still able to provide customers with their daily pick-me-ups without endangering those around them. Coffee Blue Bristol serving our public services Coffee Blue Bristol North was due to launch at the end of March 2020. With the current pandemic and ongoing restrictions on social interaction, the launch was delayed. But this didn’t stop owner, Gareth Rosser, from putting his training to good use. Gareth utilised his connections in the local police force to organise daily complimentary coffee drops to all the hard-working officers. He said: Despite being unable to launch as planned at the end of March, Coffee Blue Bristol didn’t want to simply sit around and wait for restrictions to be lifted. Instead, we decided to support our local police constabulary with a complimentary daily supply of fresh coffee. A family member of mine works for Avon and Somerset Police force. Coffee Blue Caerphilly visits childcare hubs and local NHS workers While schools across the country have been closed to stop the spread of COVID-19, some schools and their staff are being used as community hubs. These hubs allow key workers to send their children to a safe environment while they work, eliminating the need to pay for childcare. Gareth from Coffee Blue Caerphilly has even paid visits to pharmacies and nurses throughout the area, providing them with complimentary hot drinks. He said: I’ve had loads of messages from key workers since the start of the pandemic. All have been very thankful, saying it’s a lovely gesture and nice to be thought of. It’s been nice to hear that from the key workers directly treating patients and keeping the country going. When Gareth and Martin from Coffee Blue HQ mentioned the idea, I thought it was least we could do. Why did I want to get involved? Well, we are all in this together. Seeing the sacrifice they are making for us and how busy they are, it was nice to give something back. What better way to get through a busy day than a Coffee Blue coffee, right? Also, my girlfriend is a nurse working on the front line. I see the impact, stress and worry first-hand. She is a true inspiration and hero during this time, as are all her colleagues. Coffee Blue Aberdare creates grocery packages and serves supermarket workers One of our most recent franchises to launch, before the COVID-19 outbreak, Coffee Blue Aberdare was off to a flyer. Jon has years of experience in upper retail management, and has managed to put these skills to great use. Jon used his initiative to put together grocery essentials and snack packages. He delivers them to the homes of those who’re either in self-isolation, are unable to get to the shops or simply cannot find everyday items such as milk, toilet rolls and eggs anywhere amongst the panic. Most recently, Jon has utilised his contacts in the retail industry to provide coffee and food to the hard-working supermarket staff whose catering facilities are out of use. Some customers in the queues to get into the stores have even had coffees! On where the idea came from, he said: I've been doing quite a bit to be fair to keep myself as busy as possible. I thought: ‘I've got a temperature-controlled van sitting on the drive, I have access to essential grocery products that I can buy at cost from booker which enabled me to deliver to the vulnerable and those self isolating without applying a premium or even a delivery charge!’ The fact that I can accept contactless payments meant that the service involved minimal contact which was ideal at this time. The response has been amazing. I sold out every day in the first week! I was also getting asked what sweet things I had on the van so I put together a snack pack as well which have also gone down well and have prevented me having to throw loads of products away. I have also kept up delivering to the key workers that were on my original route such as the police and NHS staff and, again, the response has been great. I have recently tapped into my retail contacts and have been supplying Asda staff with breakfast rolls and coffees which have been going down a storm. I even had customers that were queuing to go into the store buying coffees and snacks which they were really grateful for especially when the queues were around two hours long. I'm just trying to do whatever I can to help the local community that all helped and supported me when I started the business. So this is almost like me giving a little back! So, those are just some of the things Coffee Blue baristas are doing to support key workers during these times. If you’d like to nominate any NHS workers for a free coffee, please get in touch with your nearest mobile barista here. For further queries and information, you can get in touch with our team here. Stay safe, everyone. Coffee Blue.
